Actually, I found a great new web hosting company: ipage.com. It's truly cheap: only $3.50 a month regardless of contract duration. Plus a free domain name. Thumbs up!

000webhost is quite fine, if you plan to host a small site. One of my friends got his account closed unexpectedly, with no reason given. After he dug into it, it became clear, that the reason was 'too many requests from site X'. Meaning - too much traffic.

Do not attract too much traffic or your free account will be shut down. This reinforces my firm belief that there are no free lunches in this world :-)

You can even go for local domain registration and hosting company and check out if the company offer free domain name registration with any private plan. It is better to stick to one web hosting company as transferring from one provider to another will also cost you a considerable amount.
