That's a harsh statement. How would you know that? Have you ever been an editor there?

I'm an editor and I'm not corrupt. FYI...there are over 85.000 editors in DMOZ. I think it's unfair to judge the whole community just by one bad guy.

When you visit those links, You will see 'Guaranteed Listings' . How do they Guarantee a listing? I can image only one way. A bad apple

How many other web directories have over 85.000 different editors? I would say DMOZ is the only one. And how many have at least 10 editors? Not many. So you're bound to have some editors who are ready to break the rules if you can pay them off.

Since DMOZ is so large and has strict quality rules, it is also one of the most authoritative directories out there, if not the most authoritative. An authority attracts many different website owners, also those whose websites do not meed the quality standards DMOZ has set. That creates the need to try to pay off someone to bypass the aforementioned quality standards. Hence the threads you referred to.

DMOZ has set guidelines how to discover and deal with dishonest and corrupt editors, so they will be caught eventually.

For the record - it is not possible to "guarantee" a listing in DMOZ. Such offers and demands are complete and utter rubbish.

DMOZ.org is the open directory project(ODP). It is the major directory which is powered by Google.com. It is only human edited directory in the web directories.

I am agree with you all. DMOZ is the best directory at all. I give this appreciation due to it's moderation, popularity and PR.

There are many other but DMOZ though is the best you don't easily get approved in it, so it is just a nam all cannot take its advantage.
