Question Which is the best home movie editing programme?

Hi what is the difference between Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Collection 14 HD, and Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD?

At the moment I am using Cyberlink Power Director which is OK, but makes the pictures blotchy and over sharp when I replay back through a DVD player. I notice it occasionally crashes, and also makes a horrible ‘white noise’ sound while I am editing it so I have to stop and give it a few minutes.

Which is the better programme? Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Collection 14 HD, or Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD?

Any advice would be most helpful. Many thanks.

Movie Studio is built on a rock solid platform 'Vegas' and has lot of functions. Pinnacle is built on pinnacle, which has not been very stable. However, the recent versions of Pinnacle are good, but I recommend Vegas. But hey both of them would do fine.

I don't know why you even make a comparison between Sony Vegas and Pinnacle Studio. As far as I know, Sony Vegas is the best video editing software out there right now

Question Re: Which is the best home movie editing programme?

Hi I am trying a trial version of Adobe premier Elements 8.0. It looks good but it keeps freezing or ending expectedly. Have tried control, alt and delete but even this doesn't help. This looks a good programme, but what is putting me off is the fact that it seems to be very unstable.

I would like to buy the full version, but not if its full of glitches. I am hoping this is only the trial version only. What does it mean when the screen on my video goes pink?

First and foremost on my list of factors to consider when purchasing a video editing package - your budget. If you're a beginner, I recommend you go for cheaper software like Roxio VideoWave or Pinnacle Studio Plus. I know many people swear by the powerful editing suites like Adobe Premiere Pro, but for the average user, it is complete overkill. The cheaper packages save you money and will fulfill most of your video editing needs. You can always upgrade to better software when you're more experienced.

Question Re: Which is the best home movie editing programme?

I am using the trial version 12 Movie Magic to see if i like it. Sometimes when I use the trial of Movie Magic i get black squares where I can hear it, but not see what's going on. Why is this please?

Also how do I render it to get it ready to burn onto a blank DVD disk? Many thanks.
